Volumes increase for Steppe Cement in 1H14
Kazakhstan’s Steppe Cement has revealed that it sold 709 459 t of cement in 1H14. This is 26% higher than in 1H13 when 564 440 t of cement was sold. The cement manufacturer has been focusing on achieving greater volumes rather than on raising prices. With this in mind, sales revenue increased by 12% y/y in 1H14, with both ex-factory prices and the average price of delivered cement falling y/y.
Steppe Cement’s market share improved to 19% in the first half of this year, compared to 15% in the corresponding period in 2013.
In 1H14 the country’s cement market remained in line with 1H13. The company expects domestic consumption to come in at 8.2 million t in 2014, a similar figure to 2013.
