India’s Business Standard is reporting that Wonder Cement Ltd has outlined plans for a Rs.3200 crore investment to bring cement production capacity to 10 million t within 5 years from the current capacity of 3.25 million t. The company says it will have doubled capacity at its plant in Rajasthan by the end of the year by building a second production line. The company would then build a third production line at a cost of Rs.1600 crore to bring capacity to 10 million t.

Wonder Cement’s Executive Director told the PTI that the project would be funded through internal accrual (Rs.300 crore), promoters contribution (Rs.500 crore) and debt (Rs.2400 crore).

In spite of the surplus capacity available in the north of India, Wonder Cement is running at full capacity, selling 180 000 bags per day, a fact which the company attributes to the quality of its products.
