Menzel replaces slip ring motor at Arabian cement plant
Menzel Elektromotoren has replaced a slip ring motor used as a fan drive at a cement plant in the Arabian Peninsula. A new model has been installed to replace the previous motor, a Japanese model with a base frame that dated back to the 1960s, which could not be replaced by a standard model due to special dimensions and an embedded foundation. Menzel Elektromotoren custom-tailored a new 1400 kW motor to ensure 100% electrical and mechanical compatibility. This required no additional onsite efforts to fit to the existing base frame, thereby reducing the downtime during retrofitting to ~48 hours. As with the previous model, the signals from all measuring instruments are routed to a higher-level controller.
Menzel keeps a wide range of motors in stock to enable it to offer short-term deliveries. Its more than 85 years experience in special motor construction enable the company to implement versatile solutions at short notice.
