Loesche wins VRM contract from Holcim Ecuador

World Cement,

Holcim has ordered an LM 56.4 vertical roller mill (VRM) for raw material grinding at its Guayaquil plant in Ecuador. The order was placed via the project’s general contractor, Sinoma-TJ (CBMI), which is supplying a 4500 tpd kiln line. The Loesche mill will be specified to grind 386 tph at a fineness of 12% R0.09 mm with a mill motor capacity of 4000 kW.

The plant already has a Loesche cement mill, type LM 56.3+3, which has been operating since 2010. The mill modules and gearboxes of the existing mill will be interchangeable with the new VRM, meaning Holcim will benefit from being able to share spare parts.

The new mill is scheduled for delivery at the end of this year. The order forms part of an expansion project worth almost US$400 million, for which construction began at the end of last year. Ecuador is marked as a country with great growth potential. In February, sales were up by more than 50 000 t y/y, at 447 929 t.
