The Portland Cement Association (PCA) congratulates the 13 cement plants awarded US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) ENERGY STAR® certification for their superior energy performance in 2019.
“America’s cement manufacturers’ commitment to research and technology has led to overall energy efficiencies and the increased use of alternative fuels.” said Mike Ireland, PCA President and CEO. “The ENERGY STAR® designation across numerous cement plants is another great example of the industry’s continued reduction of its carbon footprint in a responsible and sustainable manner."
These cement facilities join an elite group of only 95 manufacturing plants across 20 manufacturing sectors to receive the certification. Only plants in the top 25 percent of energy performance nationwide can earn the ENERGY STAR® certification.
“The magnitude of these plants’ savings indicates that manufacturers in the United States have a lot to gain by investing in energy efficiency,” said Anne Idsal, EPA Principal Deputy Assistant Administrator for Air and Radiation.
“Energy management is a win/win: saving money for manufacturers and protecting our environment.”
