New appointment at Ash Grove Cement
Stuart E. Tomlinson has been selected to take over the role of Vice President of Manufacturing for the Midwest region, following the retirement of Edwin Pierce. Tomlinson will join Ash Grove in mid-August 2013, based in the Kansas office, and Pierce will retire at the end of the year.
“Stu is a cement industry veteran, and he possesses more than three decades of experience. He is an industry leader and will be an important part of the Ash Grove leadership team,” commented Ash Grove Cement Company Senior Vice President of Manufacturing Michael J. Hrizuk.
Tomlinson has many years of experience within the cement industry. His previous positions include President of Heidleberg Technology Center, Senior Vice President of Manufacturing/Engineering at Lehigh Hanson, President of Mountain Cement Company with Eagle Materials and Vice President of Manufacturing for Cemex/Southdown in Michigan and Texas. At Ash Grove, Tomlinson will direct the company’s cement operations in the Midwest region, which comprises cement plants in Chanute, Foreman, Louisville and Midlothian.
“Ed has capably led the Midwest region for more than 20 years after serving as plant manager of Ash Grove’s Seattle, Wash., plant,” said Hrizuk.
During his time as Vice President, Edwin Pierce was involved in a number of projects, such as expansion work at Foreman and Chanute and a US$25 million baghouse installation in Louisville.
