USA: Cement and clinker shipments increased in February ‘14

USGS has issued its report on the cement industry in February 2014. Data shows that total shipments of cement in the US and Puerto Rico were 4.7 million t, a slight increase on February 2013. Shipments for the year through February were 9.6 million t.
The leading Portland cement producing states were Texas, California, Florida, Missouri and Alabama. The leading consuming states (Texas, California, Florida, Georgia and Louisiana) received about 52% of the total February shipments.
Clinker production in February totalled 4 million t, up nearly 5% y/y, while production in January and February combined was up about 6%, totalling 8.6 million t.
Masonry cement shipments were up almost 3% in February, at 134 000 t. February 2014 imports of cement and clinker totalled 386 000 t, up about 22% on February 2013. Imports for the year through February totalled 793 000 t.
