Dr. Rodrigo Gomez, Mr. Chen Yunqing, and Eric Song, thyssenkrupp Polysius, explain the efficiency benefits that have lead to one burner design achieving a 50% market share in China's high-performance cement production lines.

The reduction of fossil fuel use not only significantly lowers operating costs in cement production; it also helps to reduce CO2 emissions in clinker production. The Chinese cement industry has therefore recently committed itself to reducing CO2 emissions and fossil fuel combustion by 65% by 2030 compared with 2005. Chinese cement producers are increasingly using the polysius polflame® VN burner as an important element in achieving this target. It currently has a market share of around 50%. thyssenkrupp Polysius was named ‘Excellent Supplier in the Cement Industry 2021’ by the China Cement Association.

The thyssenkrupp Polysius customer portfolio in China includes the Tianrui Cement Group, CUCC, and Anhui Conch Cement Group. The first polflame high-efficiency system was commissioned at Anhui Conch in early 2011 and, even after more than 10 years of continuous operation, it still meets the plant operator’s high requirements for reliability, low maintenance costs and fuel savings. Compared to traditional multi-channel burners, polflame VN has higher dynamics, is more user-friendly in adjustment, improves stratification, and has better fuel efficiency.

In 2011, the first two high-performance burners were installed in kiln lines of the Anhui Conch Cement Group. Currently, a total of eight polflame VN burners are in operation in cement production lines with a capacity of 10 000 – 13 000 tpd in China. This corresponds to a local market share of around 50%. The 13 000 tpd polflame VN is the most powerful kiln burner ever produced by thyssenkrupp Polysius.

In June 2022, local service experts from thyssenKrupp Industrial Solutions China successfully commissioned a 13 000 tpd polflame VN at Tianrui Group Zhengzhou Cement Co., Ltd. After only ten days of operation, the performance test certificate was signed by the customer.
