Atlas Copco picks up iF Product Design Award for rammers
iF International Forum Design GmbH, Hannover, Germany, has awarded the Atlas Copco LT6005 rammer series with the 2015 International iF Product Design Award.
Fredrik Hägglund accepted the 2015 iF Product Design Award for the Atlas Copco LT6005 rammer series.
For more than 60 years, the iF Design Award has been recognised all over the world as a label of design excellence, identifying outstanding achievements in design.
“Thorough research and a tight cooperation between research and development and our industrial design team have been success factors in the development of the new LT Rammers,” said Fredrik Hägglund, Manager of Technical Development Light Compaction Equipment at Atlas Copco. “With a strong user focus, we managed to increase the balance of the machine, making it extremely easy to handle.”
The new Atlas Copco LT Rammers are designed for compaction work in confined areas. The product is a result of research and customer input. One of the major improvements from previous models are the slimmer designs, including plates as narrow as 6 in. on the LT5005 model, which facilitates easy handling and enhanced visibility. Operators can lean half as much to the side to maintain full visibility of the rammer’s foot. In addition, the user grip area is increased by 300% for improved control. Greater safety, reduced weight, high compaction efficiency and ergonomics are other user-friendly features that the jury found appealing.
“Easy service is a high priority for our customers. With the new design we have managed to meet those high expectations. And even though receiving the iF Product Design Award was an honor, the real joy lies in the knowledge that we can offer our customers a great product,” added Hägglund.
