Spenner Zement awards slag grinding plant contract to Loesche

Loesche has won a contract for the supply and construction of a complete slag grinding plant for Spenner Zement, Germany. The scope of supply includes: complete grinding equipment from the slag conveying and dosing system to the inlet of the product bucket elevator; process equipment and technology; product bag filter; mill type LM 46.2+2; hot gas generator. The company will provide engineering, delivery and construction services, as well as all excavation and foundation works. In addition, Loesche Automation will supply the electrical equipment and automation system.

The LM 46.2+2 is driven by a 2800 kW electric motor. It will have an output of 70 tph of dry-base slag powder, depending on the product fineness of up to 5000 Blaine. The grinding plant, which will be located near the Hüttenwerke Krupp Mannesmann steel plant in Duisburg, will have a capacity of 300 000 tpa of slag. Spenner Zement transports 157 000 tpa of cement powder from its Erwitte plant to Duisburg, where it is blended with slag powder to blast furnace cement. The new plant is due to be commissioned in 4Q14.
