Dr. Jennifer Scheydt, Head of the Engineering & Innovation Department at HeidelbergCement Germany, is representing the company on the Board of Directors of the Institut für Bauen und Umwelt e. V. (IBU).
The IBU is the world's largest association of manufacturers and associations in the building materials industry that advocates sustainable building. The 14 board members represent the around 230 companies and associations that are represented in the IBU. Among other things, the institute operates a cross-industry and independent information system for building products and building components and ensures that the ecological aspect can be incorporated into the sustainability assessment of buildings. The IBU is one of the leading international programme operators for environmental product declarations (EPD for short) in the construction industry, which declares construction products in accordance with the European standard EN 15804.
“Sustainability is increasingly becoming an integral part of almost all construction activities. The quantification of the environmental impact – and in particular the CO2 footprint – of building products plays an important part in this”, says Dr. Jennifer Scheydt. "I am therefore very pleased to be a member of the IBU Executive Board on behalf of HeidelbergCement and to help shape the topic of sustainable building even more centrally in the future."
