Concrete specialist from Shropshire, UK, Tudor Griffiths Group (TG Concrete) has supplied concrete for the Hencote Vineyard Estate.
Working with the owners of the vineyard, TG Concrete has delivered a multi-million pound project that will bring a new winery, restaurant, and shop. This project was one of the first commercial installations of the company’s polished coloured concrete in the local area.
A mirror finish is created with pewter-coloured concrete being mechanically refined once it is set through with grinding, polishing, and chemical treatments. The mix is made of golden shingle aggregate, combined with sand from the TG Group’s own quarry.
The process includes heavily grinding the concrete to expose the aggregate, using varying sizes of diamond tools, similar to sanding wood. This achieves a flatter surface to create a premium finish.
“We joined forces with Concrete Polishing for the project at Hencote and we have used the product on the 450 m2 floor of the new restaurant,” said Dave Morris, General Manager of TG Concrete. “Thanks to the floor-to-ceiling windows around the room, it is a spectacular setting to show off the mirrored finish and the real wow factor that polished concrete delivers.
“The result is a low maintenance and dust free floor, and because the process will have increased the surface strength by up to 400%, it will be robust, giving greater longevity.
“The process also helps to reduce the environmental impact of laying a floor, as it reduces the amount of added material needed, as well as reducing the likelihood of any future replacements or refurbishments being required.”
