Three employees from Tarmac have graduated with a BSc honours degree in Minerals Management from the University of Derby.

Tim Gallagher, John Mawer and Steven Curtin were awarded the qualification at the university’s annual degree ceremony. The skills gained will support the work they each undertake in their roles at Tarmac.

Commenting on his degree, newly qualified Slag Business Manager, John Mawer said: “The Minerals Management degree course was a fantastic opportunity which allowed me to challenge my own thoughts and opinions, develop a more strategic management approach to our business and identify areas to drive opportunities.”

Steven Curtin, Area Operations Manager, stated: “The skills and insight that I have gained as a result of the course will make a real difference to my day-to-day role in driving operational excellence within the business.”

Tarmac’s Senior Vice President, Martin Riley, commented: “I’d like to congratulate Tim, John and Steve on achieving their Minerals Management degrees. I am passionate about ensuring this business creates opportunities for all employees to learn and develop new skills at every stage within their career. Whether they’re a new apprentice, or have worked in the industry for 20 yrs, everyone has an opportunity to make their mark, which is something I’m very proud of.”
