World Cement,
Cemex has extended its Apprenticeship scheme to include a Driving Apprenticeship Scheme for young people wanting a career in driving cement tankers. The scheme will be based at the company’s three cement operations in Rugby, South Ferriby and Tilbury.
The year-long programme is to be run in conjunction with Cemex’s training partner, Systems Training, and offers a framework to achieve a Driving Goods Apprenticeship Level 2 and Category C & E licence. Training will cover health and safety standards, customer expectation and driving experience. Upon completion, the apprentices will gain a nationally recognised qualification.
Dave Hart, Cemex Logistics and Supply Chain Director, commented: “We very much hope we can find six apprentices in the areas around the cement operations who want to be part of the programme. It’s challenging but will give the young person a skill and career for life. They will be joining a talented and experienced Logistics team who in total operate over 300 vehicles travelling 12 million miles a year to deliver a vital building material to build our homes, hospitals, roads and much more.”
