Mika Cement to suspend production until February 2015

Armenia’s Mika Cement has produced the necessary volume of cement for sales after recommencing production in September 2014, according to a press statement released by the company. The plant has now suspended production for annual technical work until February 2015, before the start of the construction season in Armenia.
According to the statement, Mika Cement repaid the largest part of overdue wages to workers and in the period of the plant's suspension, the workers will receive a salary in line with the legislation of the Republic of Armenia. A total of 410 people are employed at the plant.
Naira Martirosyan, Director of the Mika Cement plant, told local press that the facility would produce 100 000 t of cement by the end of 2014. Martirosyan noted that production was resumed at the end of September when all the company’s salary and electricity debts were paid off.
