World Cement,
Hope Construction Materials has awarded FLSmidth a contract for process optimisation of its cement plant in Derbyshire, UK, using FLSmidth’s ECS/ProcessExpert® system. The system will help stabilise the plant, optimise production, manage and correct process disruptions and minimise wear on plant equipment to ensure optimum plant performance. Improving equipment availability and utilisation will reduce the plant’s operational and maintenance costs.
The Hope cement plant is a pioneer in the use of waste-derived fuels, and this contract, which covers optimisation of two pyro processes, including kilns and coolers, as well as two coal mills, will help to improve energy and heat efficiency when waste-derived fuels are used.
The plant, which is owned by Britain’s newest cement producer, Hope Construction Materials, had previously been using fuzzy-based process optimisation systems. The new owners have decided to upgrade to a newer FLSmidth system using the ECS/ProcessExpert solution. The decision to go with FLSmidth was based on the company’s expertise in this field and its customer-centric approach.
