CIMPOR has integrated the first 100% electric concrete mixer to operate in Portugal into its industrial fleet.

The equipment is fully operational and serving the Lisbon region as part of the fleet of Betão Liz – CIMPOR Group's leading concrete company in Portugal – marking a pioneering step in the sector. The initiative reinforces the commitment of CIMPOR, and the entire CIMPOR Group, to technological innovation in service of decarbonisation and the promotion of more sustainable and environmentally responsible operations.

The new concrete mixer represents a significant technological leap. Among its several advantages is the complete elimination of direct emissions of CO2, nitrogen oxides (NO?), and particulate matter, a crucial factor for improving air quality, especially in urban and residential areas. Additionally, its virtually silent operation allows for work in sensitive zones such as historic centres, residential areas, or during nighttime hours, minimising noise impact and significantly improving the quality of life for the population.

Beyond the environmental benefits, this innovation also brings significant gains in employee Health and Safety. The absence of vibrations typical of internal combustion engines, combined with the elimination of gas emissions, contributes to a more comfortable and healthy work environment for drivers and operators, reducing physical strain and exposure to harmful pollutants.

In terms of operational efficiency, the electric concrete mixer offers superior performance with frequent starts and stops, making it ideal for urban traffic. Furthermore, its ability to integrate with digital fleet management systems and the predictability of energy costs align with the logistical efficiency improvement plans outlined by CIMPOR, which also saw a major milestone with the launch of CIMPACK.

According to Ignacio Gómez, Chief Commercial Officer of CIMPOR, “This acquisition is not just an investment in technology; it is an investment in the future. We believe that sustainability and innovation are the pillars for more responsible and efficient construction. Once again, a CIMPOR group company is pioneering the adoption of a technological solution that, we are confident, will soon become the standard in the sector.”

With this acquisition, CIMPOR further positions itself at the forefront of the ecological transformation in construction, actively contributing to the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) and SDG 13 (Climate Action).
