With more than 20 years of experience within the cement industry, Stuart Hutchings, a qualified Chemical Engineer with a Master’s Degree in Business, is now responsible for the plant, which produces approximately 1m tpy of cement and employs around 150 staff.
Stuart comments: “Cauldon is a world class operation and it is great to see LafargeHolcim recognise this and invest further to ensure it continues to lead the way, which is why we are currently looking to improve our production process and reduce our carbon footprint.”
The company is currently planning an investment project to develop an additional chloride bypass, which will stabilise the production process, in addition to a new pre-processing plant for the storage of solid and liquid alternative fuels.
“We take our role as part of the local community very seriously, which is why we are going through an extensive consultation process to ensure the new bypass scheme will benefit everyone. I look forward to getting to know the local community further and see the plant remain at the forefront of the industry,” added Stuart. Lafarge Cement is part of Aggregate Industries, which is itself owned by LafargeHolcim.
