Tarmac has received a Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) Gold Award for its health and safety practices.

The award – selected among a field of 2000 entrants – was given in recognition of the company’s practices and achievements in helping employees and contractors to get home safely at the end of each working day.

The accolade was given to Tarmac’s Contracting, Building Products, and Materials businesses. It cited a range of initiatives, including the quality of Tarmac’s three year health and safety strategy, the support of the company’s internal communications team, the involvement of the company’s leadership team, peer-to-peer reviews by colleagues, and the launch of new contractor management standards, as well as the transformation of the induction process.

The majority of RoSPA awards are non-competitive and mark achievement at merit, bronze, silver, and gold levels, and are given to the best entries in 24 industry sectors across construction, healthcare, transport and logistics, engineering, manufacturing, and education.

“A commitment to providing a safe and healthy working environment for colleagues and partners is fundamental to how we do business,” said Simon Grey, Director of Health and Safety at Tarmac. “We are therefore really proud to have received this award, which is testament to the efforts of all our colleagues and reflects our culture of seeking out continuous improvements across the whole business.”
