Cement manufacturer TPI Polene Public Company Limited has placed an order with Siemens in order to achieve a new production line for 12 000 tpd of cement clinker, with operation due to commence in October 2014. Siemens will be responsible for the engineering and project management as well as supplying the drive solutions and switch gear for the high, medium and low-voltage distribution systems. This includes 20 slip-ring motors, 33 variable-speed drives, two multiple drive systems for cooling units and 12 gear units for the main drives.

This will be the fourth production line at the Thai cement factory in Saraburi, designed to boost production capacity due to high demand. The combined capacity of TPI Polene’s production line, upon completion of the new project, will be 12 million tpa.

Siemens has previously supplied the Thai TPI Polene Public Company Limited with electrical equipment for the three existing clinker production lines as well as for the company’s cement and coal mills. The latest production line features the 1 R.5 slip-ring rotor motors, which boast a very compact design and consequently save on both space and weight. Due to their modular construction, the motors can be manufactured with a variety of cooling systems. This versatility means they can be adapted to suit customer applications and therefore boost productivity. Furthermore, the enclosed slip-ring chamber offers the maximum degree of protection for the entire motor.

TPI Polene Public Company Limited is one of the largest cement producers in Thailand and by once again contracting Siemens to equip and manage the new production line, the company would like to ensure that manufacturing of cement at the plant will continue to run smoothly.
