Siam Cement Group implements latest ERP to facilitate growth
Siam Cement Group (SCG) has announced that will enter into an agreement with SAP (Thailand) in order to put enterprise resource planning (ERP) solutions in place to support the growth of its domestic and international business.
The scope of the agreement will see SCG using SAP's integrated ERP products across accounting, finance, supply-chain management, sales and distribution, customer-relations management, mobile issues, business intelligence, and cloud services to aid in the provision of both products and services. One of the key functions of these systems is to increase the remote productivity of the staff, enabling information to be accessed via smartphones. This is an ideal solution, it seems, to the group’s expanding interests in Vietnam and Indonesia.
Though initially, the project will cover only the group’s chemicals and paper businesses, the remaining three business areas, including cement, will be integrated within the next three years. The Group’s annual bill for ICT solutions usually runs to around Bt1.2 billion. The level of expenditure that will be injected into this project though, has not been commented upon.
