Fritz & Macziol has supplied Moroccan cement producer Ciments de l’Atlas (CIMAT) with its IT-Logistic solution, VAS, to continuously automate the processes at the company’s Moroccan plants. Following an initial analysis under the scope of a KPI-Project, VAS was used to identify and eliminate weak spots by illustrating the potential for optimisation. For example, detailed VAS reports can analyse the length of stay of trucks at all kinds of locations within the plant. The next step was the systematic conversion of the logistics at the two Moroccan cement plants, including the integration of the central SAP systems, so that everything was fully automated. Another plant, currently under construction in Nador, will also be equipped with VAS after completion.
“For CIMAT, this is a big step in the optimisation of our processes, as with VAS we have found a system that covers our conceptual, functional and technological requirements best,” said Rachid Lahbara, Direction Performances et Investissements of CIMAT.
VAS was implemented in the Ben Ahmed cement plant (Province Settat, Morocco) in October 2013, including a fully automatic waiting list for trucks in the plant. With the use of displays at the parking area, the loading order also remains transparent for the truck drivers. This marks Fritz & Macziol’s first project in Africa with its IT-Logistic solution VAS, including a continuous French language version.
