Fritz and Macziol wins Cemex contract for logistics solution

Cemex has contracted Fritz & Macziol to supply the IT-Logistics solution, VAS^®, for several plants, beginning in Germany. The system will be a tailor-made template solution for Cemex and will connect to the central ERP system.

VAS^® is a process-oriented software solution for the raw materials industry that covers the entire process chain, including delivery, dispatch, loading, all the way up to departure. It supports reporting functions and supplies real-time information to further systems, such as Production and Sales. External technical systems such as weighing, silo or metering technology are also integrated into the logistics system.

Cemex opted for VAS^® in order to cover all the requirements of a logistics system as described in the detailed systems specification provided by Cemex. The company is now preparing a VAS^® workshop to integrate the solution into its operations.

Claus Jordan of the Fritz & Macziol Industrial Applications and Services division said: “CEMEX takes over the role of a trailblazer. At present many firms operating in the raw material sector are thinking about standardising their global operations and logistic processes by using a template based solution in order to replace their older and often isolated systems". He added: “A template based rollout reduces time, effort and costs on the customers side and as such secures a fast Return-on-Investment”.
