CIMAF to construct a new cement plant in Ghana

The Ghanaian government has signed an agreement with Ciments de l’Afrique (CIMAF) for the construction of a €60 million cement plant in Ghana, close to the Tema Metropolitan District. The facility will have a designed production capacity of 1 million tpa.

Mawuena Trebarh, a representative of the Minister of Trade, Haruna Iddrisu, signed on behalf of the government and Saad Sefrioui, General Director of CIMAF, signed on behalf of the cement manufacturer.

According to the agreement, construction on the new facility will be completed within 18 months. The Ghanaian government will assist the company in obtaining a lease for a limestone quarry, which will supply the plant, and acquiring 10 hectares of land for the project. CIMAF will work in accordance with local laws and regulations, particularly those that relate to environmental concerns.
