Argos (Grupo Argos cement company), the Public Works Secretariat of the Mayor's Office of Soledad (Atlántico) and the Urban Development and Environment Establishment of Soledad (Edumas ), with the support of ACD Consultores, recently presented the Cosechas de Confianza project, which aims to contribute to the food security of linked households through the implementation of home gardens. With the above, technical capacities for production and sustainability of crops are strengthened from the practice in community gardens.

This programme began with a pilot made up of 15 families from the La Fe, El Oasis, Soledad 2.000 and La Ilusión neighbourhoods, and aims to improve access to varied, healthy, fresh and agro-ecological foods, promoting behaviours based on caring for the environment and proper environmental management.

“Today I want to highlight the co-responsibility that Argos has with the healthy environment of our communities. There is a company that works hand in hand with leaders and communities. All of us who are here have been in the programme El Líder de Cambio for years, we have grown as human beings, we are observers and we accompany this type of work,” said Dora González, leader of the La Fe neighbourhood.

For their part, through the donation of about 8200 bags of cement that the company made, the Secretariat and Edumas have been able to advance in the improvement of community infrastructure that benefits thousands of people in the municipality.

Representatives of the company and the allied institutions, in the company of community members, took a tour of works that are key for the region, such as the channelling and containment of different streams, thereby mitigating the effects of the winter wave.

In addition, a road section of 120 linear metres was recovered in the Los Cedros neighbourhood and a concrete plate was built in the Los Pescadores mini-port.
