Argos, a cement company of Grupo Argos, received the gold seal of gender equality granted by the Ministry of Labour and Labour Development in Panama, together with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the National Institute for Women and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
The company believes that diversity adds value and that it is necessary to create conditions and relationships that contribute to the improvement of the quality of life of its collaborators.
Argos Panama, one of the three companies to receive the seal in the gold category this year, is the first and only company in the Panamanian cement sector to receive an accreditation of this type. The company participated in a diagnostic and audit process by the Ministry of Labour and Labour Development and was outstanding in the categories of recruitment, selection, compensation and personnel management processes as it was free from gender bias.
“At Argos we all have the same opportunities and it is our skills that differentiate us and we are extremely proud to receive the Gold Seal of Gender Equality in Panama, a recognition of the transformation that we began years ago and that materialises how important people for our organisation. We act out of conviction and this seal reflects that we have been consistent between what we think, say and do. Furthermore, we have managed to break collective mental paradigms about the roles of men and women, based on the conviction that we all have the right to pursue our dreams without any type of limits or barriers,” commented Harry Abuchaibe, General Manager of Argos Panama.
During the process, aspects related to recruitment and selection, promotion and professional development, training, remuneration, reconciliation between family and work life, work environment and health, adequate facilities for both sexes and non-sexist communication were evaluated.
This recognition is added to the gold level Equipares Seal, obtained in Colombia in 2018, which ratifies Argos' commitment to offering increasingly equitable job opportunities and promoting the inclusion of more women in positions traditionally held by men.
