Colombian grey cement production up 12.1% over the last 12 months
Colombia’s National Administrative Department of Statistics (DANE) has released national grey cement statistics for August 2014. During the month, domestic cement dispatches increased by 17.2% y/y to reach 1.02 million t while production grew by 12.3% y/y to 1.06 million t. On a regional level, dispatches improved in Antioquia (22.7%), Cundinamarca (27.5%), Boyacá (54.2%), Nariño (84%), Magdalena (46.2%), Meta (34.4%), Santander (14.1%) and Huila (37.6%).
In January – August 2014, production came in at 8.04 million t, up 12.2% y/y. Domestic dispatches were also higher than in the corresponding period in 2013, rising by 11.5% to total 7.77 million t. Although dispatches increased in Antioquia (16.5%), Cundinamarca (20.6%), North Santander (37.7%), Magdalena (32.1%), Huila (25.9%) and Bogotá (4%), they fell in Córdoba (26.8%).
In the 12 months to August, sales of grey cement on the national market were up 11.3% and production grew by 12.1%.
