Limestone deposit confirmed in Ecuador
Limestone resource project
Ecuador’s Empresa Nacional Minera (Enami EP) has confirmed a limestone deposit of 67 million t and 85% purity in Zumba, Zamora Chinchipe province. The resource is estimated to be worth around US$300 – 400 million based on international prices of US$5–6/t of limestone.
The announcement follows the Isimanchi-Mayo exploration and evaluation project, which created 110 direct and 550 indirect jobs in the local area. The deposit has been certified according to international norms and in line with International Standard NI 43-101. Empresa Pública Cementera del Ecuador (EPCE) will carry out the next development stage of the project.
