Bedeschi shiploader leaves Venice port

On 22 October, one of the largest project cargos ever, left the docks of the Multi Service terminal in Venice, carrying an iron ore shiploader entirely designed and realised by Bedeschi.

All the parts needed to assemble the huge shiploader had been assembled during the previous three months, and carried by truck to Porto Marghera from Limena, where the main workshop of the Bedeschi Group is located. This approach is more convenient for the customer, minimising the assembly and commissioning time at the site.

Once assembled, the shiploader will be used to load iron mineral in bulk onto large Panamax vessels. It has a 50 m loading arm and weighs 500 t. The order was placed by the Austrian group Voestalpine for its new iron direct reduction plant in Corpus Christi, and is set to go to the port of Corpus Christi in Texas.

The shipment was organised by Comotto Stefano srlu, an Italian company that is part of the UTC Overseas group. It was a complex operation that took over 2 days of work just to transfer and lift the main product onto the ship, and to implement safety measures. It was a significant achievement for the port of Venice, which proved to be a leader in the management of special transports.
