Cement dispatches in Colombia increased by 8.1% y/y in July 2014
According DANE, approximately 1.08 million t of grey cement was produced in Colombia in July 2014, around 11.4% more than in July 2013. In January – July 2014, production levels reached 6.98 million t, up 12.2% y/y. Colombia’s cement production also increased in the 12 months to July, rising by 11% y/y to 12.01 million t.
Domestic dispatches grew by 9.5% y/y to almost 11.52 million t in the 12 months to July, with sales increasing in 20 of the 21 regions analysed. In the January – July period, dispatches on the local market totalled approximately 6.75 million t, up 10.7% on the same period last year.
Meanwhile, in July alone, about 1.06 million t was dispatched on the domestic market, 8.1% higher than in July 2013. Dispatches declined in Córdoba (-25.4%), but improved in Cundinamarca (16.2%), Antioquia (9.8%), Bolívar (17.3%) and Huila (25.6%).
