Cement dispatches on the up in Peru and Colombia
Peru
Domestic cement sales reached 939 135 t in October, according to ASOCEM. A further 18 090 t of cement was exported during the month. On an accumulated basis, sales volumes for January – October increased by 8% y/y.
Colombia
The latest grey cement statistics from DANE reveal that dispatches grew 13.9% y/y in October. On a regional level, the sales volumes increased in Antioquia, Cundinamarca, Bolívar and Caldas, with the biggest rise (52.2%) seen in North Santander. However, sales of grey cement fell in Córdoba, Nariño and Casanare.
In the first ten months of 2013, sales were up 2.7% y/y to 8.98 million t, while production increased by 1.9% y/y to reach 9.21 million t. In October 2013 alone, 1.05 million t of grey cement was produced, 18.4% higher than the amount produced in Colombia in October 2012.
