Cement sales up m/m in Argentina and Ecuador in October
Argentina
In October 2013, Portland cement plants in Argentina dispatched 1.15 million t of cement, including exports. This is 16.2% higher than in October 2012 and 9.5% higher than in September 2013. Domestic consumption, including imports, was up 9% m/m and 19.1% y/y to reach 1.14 million t.
Ecuador
The Ecuadorian Institute of Cement and Concrete (INECYC) has reported that 611 987 t of cement was sold in October 2013, an increase on the 586 426 t dispatched in the corresponding month in 2012. The figure also marks month-on-month growth, as only 565 775 t was sold in September 2013. On an accumulated basis, cement dispatches reached more than 5.4 million t in January – October 2013.
Canary Islands
Statistics from ISTAC indicate that cement sales in the Canary Islands fell from 35 110 t in August 2012 to 32 765 t in September. This brings accumulated sales for the first nine months of 2013 to 346 460 t. In Lanzarote, cement sales came in at 3697 t in September, an increase of 57.4% y/y and 17.62% m/m.
