CEMEX USA has announced that the company’s Victorville, Calif., Cement Plant was recognised for outstanding safety performance by the Portland Cement Association (PCA), earning the prestigious 2021 Chairman’s Safety Performance Award and marking the third consecutive year the operation has received the recognition.
CEMEX USA’s Victorville Plant was among the winners in the Large category which recognises operations with more than 300 000 work hours annually. The PCA Chairman’s Safety Performance Awards recognise the nation’s top safety performers in the manufacturing of Portland Cement, a main ingredient in concrete. Victorville Cement Plant recorded zero incidents in 2020. The award was presented to CEMEX USA virtually during a recent PCA Occupational Health & Safety Committee meeting.
“Safety is our top priority at CEMEX, and Victorville Cement Plant is demonstrating that Zero4Life is possible,” said CEMEX USA President Jaime Muguiro. “We are proud of the continued commitment of our team, and their achievement is a great example of what can happen when everyone is dedicated to safety and works together to look out for one another.”
In addition to the 2021 Chairman’s Safety Performance Award, the Victorville Cement Plant recently surpassed four years without a lost time injury to any CEMEX employee or contractor.
