Essroc, part of the Italcementi group, has completed the acquisition of Holcim’s 0.5 million tpy slag cement grinding facility in Camden, New Jersey. The plant was divested to allay competition concerns over Holcim’s merger with Lafarge.
“We are pleased to finalise the acquisition of the Camden slag cement grinding facility and look forward to serving the slag requirement of concrete producers in the northeast market,” said Francesco Carantani, Essroc’s President and Chief Executive Officer. “With the focus on sustainability and durability, there is a projected growth in the demand and usage of slag cement.”
The acquisition of the Camden plant brings Essroc’s total slag cement production capacity to 0.75 million tpy of slag cement.
“The addition of the Camden operation allows Essroc to provide a more comprehensive product offering to our customers in the northeast and mid-Atlantic markets,” said Carantani. “This strategic acquisition demonstrates our commitment to providing the highest level of customer and technical service.”
