FLSmidth receives safety award in Chile
The Chilean National Safety Council has presented FLSmidth Chile with an award for being ‘best in class’ in terms of its low frequency of incidents in 2012. FLSmidth’s lost time injury frequency rate also dropped by 41% from 2011 to 2012.
The award is given once a year and covers most industries. FLSmidth won in the ‘Services to mining’ category, and has previously been recognised in relation to maintenance work.
“Safety is the number one concern to FLSmidth – both in relation to our customers and employees. We are committed to securing a safe working environment for those working for us as well as for those using our products, systems and services. We are therefore very happy that our safety efforts are being recognised through this award,” said FLSmidth Group CEO Thomas Schulz.
“In order to proactively reduce the risk of injuries we put a lot of work into creating a culture where safety is a natural, inherent part of everything we do. This is done through training, well documented safety systems and continuous target setting and tracking of our accomplishments within safety,” adds Luis Bravo, Safety and Health Manager, FLSmidth Chile.
