Cemex launches Ecoperating seal
In order to highlight its sustainable practices, Cemex has introduced a new Ecoperating seal. This seal will be awarded to products and services that achieve high standards of sustainability performance, from things like low-CO2 cement or concrete, to concrete pavements with smart LED lighting, and even simple practices like paperless invoicing. The seal was developed through a rigorous internal process that measures the environmental and/or social impact of each product/service, checking such relevant sustainable attributes as thermal insulation, use of recycled raw material and contribution to a reduction in CO2 Footprint.
“CEMEX is well known for a number of services and initiatives that significantly reduce environmental impacts or have a highly positive effect on society. The Ecoperating seal will help our clients identify CEMEX’s initiative to foster its sustainable development through the building solutions CEMEX provides to the markets it serves,” said Vicente Saisó, CEMEX’s Sustainability Director.
The Ecoperating seal is being introduced this month across a number of the group’s cement and concrete products in Croatia, with introductions in
Egypt, the Philippines, Colombia, Costa Rica and Mexico during 3Q2012. The project will be extended to Northern Europe, South America and the Caribbean and Asia during 4Q2012 and 1H2013.
Meanwhile, Cemex has announced that it will shortly be meeting with its lenders to discuss a refinancing proposal for its financing proposal, which matures in February 2014.
