Ready Mix USA, a CEMEX USA company, has announced that it has earned five awards from the Tennessee Concrete Association (TCA) which include awards for outstanding environmental performance and for contributions to projects across the state.

TCA recognised two Ready Mix USA ready mix concrete plants for their outstanding commitment to the environment, both earning the TCA Emerald Award for Environmental Excellence. Ready Mix USA’s Boone’s Creek Plant in Johnson City, Tenn., earned the award in the Small Plant category, which recognises plants that produce 25 000 cubic yards or fewer of concrete annually. The company’s Morristown Plant in Morristown, Tenn., was recognised in the Mid Plant category for plants with annual production between 25 000 and 75 000 cubic yards.

The TCA Emerald Awards for Environmental Excellence are presented each year to member plants that make outstanding contributions to preserve and protect the environment, exhibit environmental leadership, maintain sound environmental management practices and install state-of-the-art equipment or implement environmentally friendly plant procedures.

“At Ready Mix USA and CEMEX USA, we strive to be good environmental stewards and look for opportunities to improve our processes and operations to be even more sustainable and environmentally friendly,” said Marc Tyson, President of Ready Mix USA. “We are proud of the achievements at Ready Mix USA, and we remain dedicated to leading positive change for our industry.”

In addition to the environmental recognitions, Ready Mix USA earned three TCA Concrete Design Awards for participation in projects across the state. Ready Mix USA was recognised with the Best Specialty Project Award for supplying the Seven Islands State Birding Park Bridge Project in Kodak, Tenn. The company also received the Best Architectural/Engineering Award for contributing to the Dobyns-Bennett High School Science and Technology Centre Project in Kingsport, Tenn. Ready Mix USA also earned the Grand Champion Concrete Design Award which recognises the best overall concrete project in the state for the Dobyns-Bennett project.
