NSSGA forms Engineering & Technical Committee

Published by , Assistant Editor
World Cement,

The NSSGA has recently formed its Engineering & Technical Committee, which will serve as a new platform for aggregates engineers to advance many of the technical aspects related to the industry.

The committee will promote the industry’s interest on aggregate specification through involvement with related industry technical committees and federal agencies. The committee will also administer the association’s current and future aggregate research, monitor external research and serve as an advocate in Washington DC to present a unified voice regarding trending technical issues important to the industry.

Interested members should submit their name, job title and company affiliation to Jay Stem, North Carolina Aggregates Association executive director, at jay@ncaggregates.org or Dale Drysdale, NSSGA vice president of occupational and environmental health, at ddrysdale@nssga.org.

Darin Matson, of Rogers Group, Inc., chairs the committee and represents the group at NSSGA’s Executive Committee meetings.

“We need to ensure that all NSSGA members are aware of the new committee and invite those who deal with engineering issues and specifications to participate,” said Matson. “Among the opportunities to improve the industry, three stand out as particularly relevant at this time. Increasing the industry’s representation on standard-setting boards, such as ASTM and ACI. Positioning NSSGA as an engineering information clearing house for the industry and advocating in Washington, D.C. for the technical issues that all NSSGA members agree are important to the aggregates industry.”
