Wildlife Habitat Council certifies six Titan America sites

World Cement,

Six of Titan America’s US sites received Wildlife Habitat Council (WHC) certification during the 25th Wildlife Habitat Council Annual Symposium in Baltimore. The sites include two cement plants – Roanoke Cement Company, Troutville, VA, and Pennsuco Cement Complex in Medley, FL – as well as cement terminals in Virginia and North Carolina and the Center Sand site in Clermont, FL.

Certification criteria for the WHC’s Corporate Wildlife Habitat Certification/International Accreditation programme are tough. The WHC programme, which recognises achievements in wildlife habitat management and environmental education initiatives, offers two types of certification – ‘Wildlife at Work’ and ‘Corporate Lands for Learning’. Titan America’s Roanoke and Pennsuco cement plants received certification for ‘Corporate Lands for Learning’, while the cement terminals and Center Sand site were certified under ‘Wildlife at Work’.
