Slight growth in Peruvian cement sales
According to Peruvian cement association ASOCEM, cement dispatches in the first 11 months of 2014 increased very slightly by 0.57% y/y. Domestic cement sales came in at 929 000 t in November alone, while clinker and cement exports totalled 28 000 t and 27 000 t, respectively.
The country’s National Institute of Statistics and Information (INEI) has indicated that the construction sector contracted by 3.2% in October 2014. This has been attributed to lower rates of project execution on the part of regional and local governments.
