World Cement,
PM-Technologies GmbH, a specialist in cyclone preheater and calciner upgrades, has made a number of technological advancements, in terms of realising the full potential of calciner kilns, over the past three years. Through the application of the latest computational tools, in association with Cinar Ltd, PM-Technologies has helped several calciner kilns to operate at higher production rates.
PM-Technologies has increased its presence in the South American cement sector and realised two kiln upgrades in the last three years. The company was awarded a contract to increase the output of a calciner kiln in Venezuela from 2880 tpd to 3400 tpd of clinker. Following the successful optimisation of the calciner and preheater in 2012, the company equipped another Venezuelan preheater kiln with an air-through (AT) calciner and new cyclone stages in early 2014, increasing the plant’s capacity from 3000 tpd to 3700 tpd of clinker. During the second phase of the project, a target was set to tap the full kiln potential of 4200 tpd of clinker by modifying its AT calciner to an inline calciner with a novel tertiary-air inlet.
