Caricom Cement commissions new plant in Guyana

On 13 December, Caricom Cement Company Incorporated commissioned its newly constructed cement manufacturing plant at Everton, Berbice. The facility, which has a designed production capacity of some 11.7 million tpy of cement and more than 500 000 tpy of clinker, is located on the former site of Berbice Mining Enterprises’ bauxite mining plant.

Prime Minister Samuel Hinds attended the commissioning, cutting of the ribbon and ceremonial unveiling of the plaque, alongside Irfaan Ali, Minister of Tourism, Industry and Commerce, David Armogan, Region Six Chairman, Roshan Habbibullah, Chief Executive Officer of Caricom Cement Inc., and Dr Joshua Safeek, Chairman of Caricom Cement Company.

Roshan Habbibullah told local press that a second production line would soon be added to the facility, which would significantly boost production capacity.
