Peru’s Cement Association releases September 2014 despatch figures
According to Peru’s cement association, ASOCEM, its member companies despatched 904 840 t of cement on the domestic market in September 2014. In the first nine months of 2014, despatches were slightly higher than in the corresponding period in 2013, rising by 0.42%. In September alone, cement exports totalled 41 922 t and clinker exports reached 31 406 t.
The country’s National Institute of Statistics and Information (INEI) recently revealed economic production figures for August 2014. The Peruvian construction sector contracted by 3.73%. This has been attributed to lower levels of national and local government spending. The mining and hydrocarbon sector also experienced a decline in August of 3.51%. However, overall, the INEI has reported a 1.24% rise in national production in August, as well as 2.75% growth in the first eight months of the year.
