Peruvian construction sector experiences 2.27% y/y growth
Asocem has reported that its associated companies sold 849 011 t of cement on the domestic Peruvian market in December 2013. Export volumes reached 40 548 t. Cement dispatches in 2013 as a whole were 7.15% higher than in 2012.
According to the National Institute of Statistics and Information (INEI), Peru’s economy grew by 4.81% y/y in November 2013, marking 51 months of consecutive growth. This was driven by positive results across the country’s economic sectors, with the exception of manufacturing. The construction industry saw a 2.27% y/y improvement in November, boosted by greater investment. Internal consumption of cement rose by 1.1% compared to November 2012.
