Cemex rewards supplier innovation

World Cement,

Cemex has announced the winners of its Global Suppliers Innovation Program, INTEGRATE. Fiorini Industrial Packaging S.p.A. won first place for its idea, “GH2OST”, a bag with a water-soluble coating that protects its contents from humidity and can be thrown straight into the mixer with the cement. Second place went to another packaging company, this time Mondi Kraft Paper for “The Future is High Porous”, a paper bag made with high-quality porous paper that is both light and strong. Vega Industries Ltd came in third with their idea “Early Order Discount Program”, which offers financial incentives for cement plants that start their maintenance and replenishment planning process earlier. All three companies have been supplying Cemex for several years. The awards were presented on 14 March at the Cemex Corporate Headquarters in Monterrey, Mexico.

All the proposals received by Cemex were subjected to a two-phase evaluation by Global Procurement Executives, Procurement country heads and Corporate Innovation in the first phase, and by 13 experts from different areas within Cemex in the second.

“At CEMEX, we are always seeking innovative ways to improve and implement new ideas. We believe that fostering innovation alongside our suppliers promotes continuous improvement across our supply chain, benefiting both our company and our suppliers,” said Jaime Elizondo, President of CEMEX South, Central America and Caribbean and head of Global Procurement.
