Solidia recognised for its sustainable cement technology

Solidia Technologies was selected as a finalist for the 2013 Katerva Award for its low carbon cement and concrete technology. The company’s patented processes reduce carbon emissions by up to 70% during cement and concrete production.

Solidia's technology is suitable for large and small-scale applications. It begins with sustainable cement, cures concrete with CO₂ instead of water, reduces carbon emissions by up to 70% and recycles 60 – 100% of the water used in production. The resulting CO₂-cured concrete products are higher performing, cost less to produce and cure in less than 24 hours (compared to 28 days for traditional concretes). The technology and product development is reinforced by additional third party research collaboration and testing.

Solidia was named as a finalist in the Materials & Resources category. Nearly 500 nominated projects were rated for validity, scalability, policy and impact. The finalists represent the top five projects from each of the ten categories.

Solidia has additionally been named as one of the Best Places to Work in New Jersey. The survey and award programme identifies, recognises and honours the top places of employment in New Jersey that benefit the state's economy, its workforce and businesses.

The programme recognises 100 companies, including 62 small/medium-sized companies (15-249 employees) and 38 large-sized companies (more than 250 employees). With 50 employees, Solidia Technologies has been names one of the Best Places to Work in New Jersey in the small/medium category.

To qualify, companies must have at least 15 employees and a facility in the state and be a for-profit, not-for-profit or government entity or a publicly or privately held business. Companies from across the state entered the two-part evaluation process, which consists of an evalutation of the company’s workplace policies, practices, philosophy, systems and demographics (worth 25% of the total), and an employee survey to measure the employee experience (worth 75%). The combined scores determined the top companies and the final ranking.
