Colombian cement company, Argos, has been included in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index for the first time. Inclusion indicates a company’s leadership in terms of corporate sustainability, encompassing economic, social and environmental factors.

Argos obtained high scores in all aspects, becoming one of only four cement companies included in the index and one of only six Colombian companies. Argos achieved the maximum score for the industry in the social category, and its environmental score was twice the industry average.

“We are very pleased with Argos’ inclusion in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index, which is an achievement for the industry and our more than 8000 employees, spread over 12 countries. In Argos, we believe that seeking a balance between economic profitability and respect for people and the environment is the best way to do business. These results show coherence with the strategic focus of the company and compliance with the commitments that were made to different stakeholders. Furthermore, they reflect perseverance and team work done by many people on a daily basis, which have gone beyond this Index to become part of our corporate DNA”, says Jorge Mario Velásquez, CEO of Argos.
