Brazil’s domestic cement sales volumes fell in April

According to the SNIC, domestic Brazilian cement sales declined by 4.9% y/y in April 2014, down from 5.9 million t to 5.6 million t. However, on an accumulated basis, sales of cement increased by 3.3% y/y to almost 22.78 million t in January – April 2014. Over the last 12 months sales reached 70.7 million t, up 3% y/y.
6th Brazilian Cement Conference
The Brazilian cement sector is currently gearing up for the 6th CBC event, which is due to be held in São Paulo on 19 – 21 May 2014. Around 350 participants are expected to attend the conference, including suppliers, cement industry professionals and university researchers from across Latin America. Speakers include Cary O. Cohrs – PCA, Martin Schneider – VDZ, Phillipe Fonta – CSI/WBCSD, Vagner Maringolo – CEMBUREAU, and Yushiro Kihara – ABCP (Brasil). Further information about the conference can be found here.
