Cuban cement plant achieves production milestone

According to local press, La Empresa Mixta Cementos Cienfuegos S.A. has announced a new clinker production record. This week, the Cuban cement plant’s clinker production reached more than 1.024 million t, approximately 1200 t higher than the production levels achieved four years ago. The plant expects total clinker production for 2013 to come in at over 1.075 million t. La Empresa Mixta Cementos Cienfuegos S.A. has undergone modernisation work, which will help the plant to increase its production rate to meet its designed capacity of 1.5 million tpa.

The plant was originally established in 1975 as the Karl Marx Cement plant, before becoming known under its current name in 2001.
