Cementos Argos launches brand in Puerto Rico

World Cement,

From 9 September, the launch of Colombian cement and concrete manufacturer and distributor Cementos Argos into the Puerto Rican market will be completed through the use of a business model that focuses on customer support, industry professionalism and sustainable development.

“Through this new receipt, storage and distribution terminal, we are making all of our experience, knowledge and innovation available to the local market. All of these elements together, in combination with our personalised technical advice and industrial professionalisation programs, make up Argos’ value promise: support and accompaniment,” says Mauricio Ossa, the VP for Cementos Argos’ Caribbean and Central American Regional Division.

Having taken over the management of these facilities in May 2015, Argos began an integration process that enabled it to align the new operation with its existing structure efficiently, and achieve unification in terms of processes and services.

Through this, Argos has made Puerto Rico the latest step in its process of international expansion. The country plays an important role in the company’s logistic integration due to its strategic position, which not only allows for the opportunity to enter a market that is significant in the Caribbean region, but also opens the possibility of export to neighbouring countries. The terminal also furthers trading activities that were already on the rise by boosting the creation of synergies with the company’s existing operations.

“Puerto Rico complements our existing logistics platform, allowing us to efficiently interconnect strategic production assets with our main markets, providing us with an enhanced level of operational flexibility that fits in perfectly with our strategy,” Mr. Ossa concludes.
